"On February 2, 2021, my mom lost her mother unexpectedly. Watching my mom’s heartache and pain at family get together this year made losing her even harder. The last photo taken of her was on her birthday, with all of her great-grandchildren in her lap as the rest of the family sang “Happy Birthday”. That was the happiest any of the family ever saw her. As the holidays started to inch closer I wanted to get my mom the most meaningful Christmas gift I could give her since this has been by far the hardest year for her. So, I sent the last photo ever taken of I have of her mom at her happiest to be painted into a portrait for her. The day we celebrated our family Christmas, the family and I made sure she was the last one to open her presents so all of the family members can not only watch her reaction but remember how happy she was with her life and how much she loved each and every one of us.
