Raymond’s evolution to portrait painting is not the usual story. At a very early age, Raymond had only one hobby - sculpture. Sitting quietly for long periods, he sculpted everything that he saw in books, in cartoons, and in his imagination. In addition to sculpture, Roman also engaged in piano, vocals, choreography, theater, and sports. Raymond did not perceive his hobby for sculpture as a future profession, because he knew that a sculptor should also draw and paint, and he felt he didn’t have the skills for this. But he simply changed this thinking, believing there is nothing complicated in drawing, and that it can be mastered like any other art skill. So he began to draw. Soon after, he began taking orders for interior design. Baroque was in vogue, and everyone tried to create the most luxurious house. Wall painting, volumetric stucco bas-reliefs, and sculpture were combined here. But the fashion did not last long, and with the arrival of minimalism, he began to look for new forms of creative realization, gravitating to pencil and charcoal drawing. That’s when he started portrait painting, and he hasn’t looked back since.
