Igor Shish

Igor Shish

Igor was fond of drawing from early childhood. He painted starting in preschool, and continued throughout his schooling and university. He was inspired by such great artists as Henryk Semiradsky, Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Aivazovsky, Shishkin, Vrubel, and Salvador Dali. Igor studied painting on his own, and earned his own money to purchase paints, canvas and brushes for a variety of techniques. He would travel to different cities around the country just to get the right supplies. In the late 90s, Igor held his first solo exhibitions, and since then works on commission as a portrait painter. His passion is evident in every piece of work.

"I ordered this painting for my wife. Her mom unexpectedly passed away one week before Christmas. Their family was never big on taking photos, so for our wedding, I had a photographer take a photo of just them two. The picture that I requested to be painted happened to be the last one ever taken. On May sixth we decided to celebrate her mom's birthday and I wanted to do something special. In the photo are my wife and her mother. It portrays them as they are now, her mom being a guardian angel smiling alongside her daughter. Not just for one last time, but forever. They were the happiest at that moment, and it’s a memory I want to keep always. "
