My best friend lost her father 10 years ago. This picture is the only one she has of him. The original has a chunk missing from the tape being pulled off of it. She refuses to let her husband take it in to be digitally repaired and have another printed off for fear of it getting ruined or lost. This was a great way to give her another longer-lasting copy.

The gift was a birthday surprise for my best friend. The painting was of her and her late mother who unexpectedly passed away in December 2013. Her brother and my family members also contributed to paying for the oil painting. The portraiture artist did an excellent job of capturing the special love between my best friend and her mother. My best friend, Karmen, her father died when Karmen was 11 years old. He was her best friend. She only had one photo of him, and I found a high school graduation photo and decided to merge both photos for this painting. She was very emotional.
